What is self-adhesive paper?
The glue is adapted to the purpose of temporary gluing and easy removal of paper from any substrate. Special glue technology ensures that after removal there is no trace of glue on the surface where the self-adhesive sheet was attached. We offer several types of colors and weights of paper, and there are also different positions of application of adhesive tape, which allows us to vary the shapes and sizes of self-adhesive paper products.
History of self-adhesive paper
The first attempt at making self-adhesive paper that could be easily attached and removed from any substrate dates back to the 1970s. At that time, dr. Spencer Silver in his lab tried to develop a super strong adhesive that would bond metals. He developed an adhesive that unfortunately did not meet the initial goal. However, it had the following properties: low viscosity, reusability and surface adhesion without additional external factors (such as temperature).
In practice, the glue was used a few years later in connection with the problem of Arthur Fry, a friend of Dr. Silver and a singer at the church choir. Arthur Fry struggled every Sunday with the sheets that marked the singing program in the songbook. They fell relentlessly from the book. He used a friend’s glue on a piece of paper and thus accidentally created temporary but very handy self-adhesive notes.
At first, the manufacturer doubted the success of the innovation in the market. He decided to check consumers and offer them some samples and check market interest. The results turned out to be surprisingly good. The first self-adhesive notebook or block of self-adhesive sheets came on the market in the United States in 1980, and a year later it entered the European and Canadian markets.
The composition of the adhesive used in the first productions of self-adhesive products is far from the ingredients used today. Self-adhesive products from our offer have a water-based adhesive, which is environmentally friendly.
